Recently, I took time to flip through the letters I have written to my girls since 2014. When I started, it was to jot down notes of things we did, memorable moments, occasional printed photos, in-the-moment observations of their growth, and sometimes my apology for my reaction to something they did or said. When Satchi started reading, I started addressing the letters directly to Satchi and Coco, always starting the entries with "Dear Satchi" or "Dear Coco". It became a thing in our family for our girls to find those letters on the dining table when they woke up in the morning. Lately, I am loving receiving a letter back from them written on the same notebook, with journal entries starting as "Dear Mama". I can say that this exchange of letters has established as a family ritual that has been cultivated over 8 years in progress. In this Pause, Breathe, and Journal video, I enjoyed sharing a mini flip through of the past years' letters I have written to the girls as well as adding new pages to the MD Codex notebooks which houses our current "letters". I hope you enjoy seeing a glimpse of our family life. xoxo -wakako
