Earlier this month (which feels like ages ago with everything that happened since then…), Frido and I had an opportunity to host an analogue gathering with our BK friends at Avanti Food & Beverage in the LoHi area of Denver, Colorado.
I have been hoping to meet more BK folks worldwide, but with so many elements of our family life on the move in the last few years (literally and figuratively), I have put the dream on hold for a while. So, planning this community event to kickstart 2025 was extra special because it allowed me to put my dream into motion.
The setting was casual but still very intimate, so we all got to know each other over a cup of coffee and our notebooks. I was delighted to learn many new inspiring ways to approach analogue moments. It was also touching to see the artifacts we share at BK being utilized and to hear different stories about how the values & ethos of BK have resonated in everyone’s lives.
Frido and I brought some of the BK-original self-inked stamps with us (in our carry-on backpack), so the room was filled with lively chat and the rhythmic sound of the stamping motion. Frido quickly did a watercolor demo at one of the side tables to show how easy it could be to add a splash of colors to the journaling pages. Since he doesn’t always get to be at our Altadena studio during our regular opening hours, it was extra special for him to get to know everyone more intimately.
What made me the happiest was to watch new connections made through our brief time together, which I hope will organically evolve into the beginning of a unique community in Denver. In a way, at that point, it will no longer be about BK. I felt that BK’s presence could simply fade into the background to let the beauty of the genuine relationships shine through.
Thank you so much, everyone, who joined us for our time together!! Frido and I left Denver feeling so rejuvenated & inspired, and we can not wait to see you all again when we are back in town!
