Daily Calendar Doodles, September - December // A.C.

At last, it’s time to close out the year with the fall/winter daily calendar drawings.

September:
Ink color: I am a Cat (Wearingeul)

October:
Ink color: Nurari (AOAO x Sailor)

November:
Ink color: Caffe Crema (Robert Oster), Espresso (Diamine), Ume (Sailor Manyo)

December:
Ink color: Nakahara Pure Blue (Nagasawa Kobe INK Monogatari)

These will be my last JIYU calendar drawings for a while, because for 2026 I’m moving my planner outta my TN to a format that’s completely new to me. That’s right, for the first time ever, I’m going to try…can you guess?

If you guessed Hobonichi Weeks, you’re correct! The influence of various BK team members can be traced in this choice. I got the same color as Wakako: Antique Green. I’m carrying it opposite my fountain pens in the Yuruliku flat pen case, a serendipitous, “perfect fit” combination that Emil discovered some years ago. And I’m using it with the Yuri Sanae “Forest Lake” clear cover—partly because I watched Swan Lake at the ballet recently, but mostly because Eunice’s lovely photography of it completely captivated me.

What really sold me was the idea of slotting photos and/or paper ephemera in behind it, making the cover a showcase you can change and rotate out with each passing season and whim. It reminds me of being a schoolkid, decorating my plastic binders for different subjects. I haven’t even started using the planner yet, but photos of my beloved pets and a lucky tarot card are already warming up the interior.

I’m feeling excited to move to a new planner, but also curious bordering on skeptical. No other system has, so far, worked for me as consistently as the JIYU. But there’s no getting around the fact that this year, I often felt like I was going through the motions with it. Not the notebook’s fault—it’s just that 2025 really put me through the wringer. I’d like to see if switching to a slimmer, pre-dated planner might help me step a little more lightly through the difficult days ahead. Like an elf walking on snow. With that thought, it’s time for me to return to my holiday tradition of feasting and chatting with my family while The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy plays for the hundredth time in the background. Thank you, BK staff and readers, for allowing me to share my journaling and creative practice thoughts for another year. As always, I look forward to the next page turn with you.
