Origami Leather Basket combines function and beauty in a perfect balance. It is designed through a collaboration between Baum-kuchen and 1.61 Soft Goods over the course of 6 months. The basket is cut, stitched and finished with much love and care in Los Angeles downtown where Diana and Wes share their studio/workspace for 1.61 Soft Goods. The basket's design was inspired by folding pattern of Origami and is made from high quality leather, brass rod and solid brass cleats (optional). Originally designed as a shop basket for Baum-kuchen studio/shop, we quickly found out that Origami Basket is also great as a little side tote when you want to throw a few things to take with you (like your Traveler's Notebook, Roterfaden, wallet, phone and keys). We love using our basket as a lunch tote, a carrier to transfer all our analogue tools from one room to another and an ultimate road trip snack basket. If you are planning to use yours outside, brass cleats will keep your basket away from dirt on the floor. If you are planning to use it inside, perhaps go with the basket w/o cleats!
The leather will darken and caramelize over time and we hope you enjoy using your Origami Leather Basket in everyday life making it truly yours. In-use pictures show the leather that have been darken over time through usage. Currently available in 2 sizes!
If you are little worried about getting the nude leather dirty, check out the Origami Leather Basket in Cognac Brown!
